We Build It Artist Residency
We are currently renovating our artist residency house and plan to open it in 2021. We are seeking residents who want to gain experience in construction, craftsmanship, and building creative spaces. As a 555 Arts Resident, you will work alongside other artists, builders, and community members to activate and transform the area into community space for artists and the neighborhood, all while gaining new skills and interacting with the surrounding community in Detroit.
Metal Arts - 555 Arts had a working foundry for casting Iron, bronze, and aluminum sculpture. Residents will be able to work with 555 staff and create a piece to be installed in the Art Park or surrounding neighborhood.
Banner Tobacco Building - This four story building needs a lot of love and creative ways to make it a sustainable art space. We welcome ideas for solar, wind, and water collection, as well as maintenance and art installations.
