The core mission of 555 Gallery/Studio is to further enrich and diversify cultural life in the greater Metro-Detroit area. was founded in the spring of 2002 in Ann Arbor Michigan. Jacob "Monte"
Martinez, Andres Garces, and Carl W. Goines established 555 on Third in
a 1500 sq. ft. corridor in the Ann Arbor Technology Center, located on
Third Street between Huron and Washington. The Ann Arbor Technology
Center began as an industrial warehouse and in the early 70’s became a
grassroots cultural community housing over 150 artists, craftspersons,
musicians, and developing entrepreneurs. |

Performance Art Workshops By Barbara Neri |

a multi-disciplinary artist and independent scholar She holds an MFA in dance from the University of Michigan and a BS in Art Education from Butler University and Herron Art School. Since 1995, the focus of her work has been the life and work of Victorian poet, Elizabeth Barrett Browning. In response, Neri created the "EBB Project". The project is a synergy of creative process in performance, visual art, and writing, that sets in motion a dance between criticism and art, word, and image. As a fundraiser for 555, Neri will teach one 3-day Performance Art Workshop.(College age through mature adult. High School age with permission of instructor.) The schedule of the workshop is as follows: Fri. July 18, 7 PM - 10 PM Sat. July 19, 10 AM - 6 PM Sun. The group will meet regularly and work on an original performance piece with Neri’s artistic direction.
