Artist Statement

I am surely a self-taught artist

"Even though, some of the greatest artists for my inspiration are, Gerard Ter Borch, Vincent Van Gogh, Wasily Kandinsky, Francisco de Goya, Salvador Dali, Roberto Matta and Jackson Pollock (just to name some of the thousand of artists), I always follow my own way of expression through the paint. Most of the time, it is by experimentation and connection of my poetry with the imagery. It's so important, because every time I paint, there are feelings involved with ideas and concepts such as Natural Disasters, Extinction of Species, Passion and Poetry, War, 'Abstracts Platforms' and 'Gravity'".
"Gravity"
It’s the source of "Life" in the Universe
And
"Painting"
It’s the source of the "Abstraction of Gravity" in the canvas.
To me, there is only one way of painting, and it is how you feel it regardless of how many techniques one may want to apply (without disregarding what has been taught in art schools). "Technique" is what will, in the end,
define an artist's stage of development in terms of style and goals. I do experiment with layers of colors and "Texture", using Oil and Acrylic as
mixed media with which I express myself through the forms, shapes and shadows. It is then, when my nature comes out.....just me, my pallet
knives, brushes and the colors waiting to rest forever on that canvas in a way where passion takes over."

In “The Universe”, for example, an abstract platform is created by looking out to the Universe from the Earth with our limited vision. We may conclude that we do not know what is beyond our capacities. Even if we search into what we believe may be infinite, we will not understand what is beyond. Even if we establish different platforms to find a “REAL PLATFORM” (or as I call it a “Mother Platform”) to explore and search through the Mystery of the Universe, we can only have Abstract Platforms of an idea or theory regarding what we cannot define… Whatever theory it may be, it will always be a theory within a pool of theories as long as the “Platform of Reality” is missing. The Universe as such will, therefore, always lay on a Platform of Theory and not of Reality. GRAVITY (painting #2) In this painting, I understand gravity as defined without value. This does not mean that we cannot create a new platform onto this base. "Gravity" it's the source of "Life" in the Universe and "Painting" it's the source of the "Abstraction of Gravity" on the canvas. Just because we cannot measure the “Gravity” of Space, does not mean that it does not exist. We could even say that it is its own world within its own universe with their own platforms (0). Why Not? PLATFORM ZERO!!! BACTERIA (painting #3) The subject matter is painted with the thought that if we have millions of germs in our mouth, between our teeth, can we say that they do not exist just because we cannot see them with the naked eye? Microscopes bring this measure to reality and we can therefore appreciate other worlds that exist within us…and possibly other worlds or universes that could exist within the bacteria. Who can say that a bacteria cannot have a bacteria of its own? My paintings are based on a theory…an idea that I express through colors. What I establish on canvas is the harmony of these colors that are represented and defined by “REALISM” or “ABSTRACTION”. Please feel free to take my thoughts with you as you explore my paintings. I would also like to welcome an open dialogue if it is of your interest.
